Medicare Coverage & Veterans Benefit

Although it is not absolutely necessary the VA STRONGLY encourages you to sign up for Medicare Part B.  You may also want to consider getting a Medicare Advantage or Supplement plan as well.  This is especially the case for veterans that are NOT in priority group 1.  There is no guarantee that Congress will approve VA funds to treat Veterans for Priority Groups 2-8.

Here are just a few reasons why Veterans may consider enrolling in a private Medicare Supplement or Advantage Insurance Plan:

  • You do not live near a VA facility
  • You are enrolled in one of the VA lower priority groups, and could potentially lose your benefits*
  • Option to use local Doctors and Hospitals
  • Extra Benefits
  • Second opinions
  • Obtain treatment sooner than VA offers
  • Urgent Care (find out more about VA treatment for urgent care here)

Beneficiaries Could Pay More for Prescriptions in 2020

Even though the donut hole/coverage gap is closed?

That is right, you would think since the coverage gap is closed in 2020 that beneficiaries would pay the say costs out of pocket during their initial coverage phase as in the coverage gap since they will not have to pay more than 25% of the costs of prescription drugs.  It turns out that is incorrect! It depends on the medications that you are on! Don’t worry, I can help you see how you will be personally affected in 2020.  For more information see this article:  https://www.kff.org/medicare/issue-brief/how-will-the-medicare-part-d-benefit-change-under-current-law-and-leading-proposals/

Why make an online Medicare.gov account/login?

Watch this one minute video.

In just five minutes or less you can start a personal and secure Medicare.gov account. By why you ask would you make yet another username and password and place to log into.  Well there are a few really good reasons.

  1. You do not want someone who isnโ€™t you doing it for you. Yes, starting an online account can prevent identity fraud.
  2. You can track your current coverage
  3. You can know when you are allowed to change (Medicare automatically tailors available times that YOU can switch) and presents customized options [Donโ€™t worry you will still need me!]
  4. Track your claims
  5. Track your doctors
  6. Estimate your prescription drug costs

Here at Citizens Insurance Solutions, we are dedicated to help make your life easier as you relax knowing you got the coverage you needed and wanted.
